Fine art printed on textured rag on the Gold Coast, Australia
Elke has begun designing a series of travel posters paying homage to her Great Grand Father Percy Trompf, an Australian commercial artist, best known for his travel posters, books, advertising hoardings and pamphlets promoting the nation’s tourist industry.
Inside The Glasshouse is inspired by a time living away from our tropical home in an icy Amsterdam, where the sun sleeps and the wind creeps. The discovery of Hortus Botanicus, Amsterdam’s botanical garden with a glasshouse featuring plants from home brings a welcome feeling of nostalgia and escapism from the cold.
More recently, after seeing the landscape I desperately longed for all those years ago wiped out by floods and landslides, it feels like it brings on a new meaning. One of community, and coming together that brings light and brightness
to a heavy and dark feeling that currently clouds our town.
Secondly, how I just want to put our town inside a protective glasshouse, away from the yucky government who doesn’t care about us and away from the disgusting coal that is destroying our planet.
